Actually, the Jags D last year was very good at getting off the field on 3rd downs and got better at it as the season went along.  They ended up 10th in the league for the year at it and were one of the best down the stretch.  They were very good during the last two games under Marrone, but this trend started while Gus was still here.  Gus isn't/wasn't a bad defensive coach/coordinator.  He just isn't suited to be a head coach with his poor game/clock management and the defensive talent didn't mature and gel in time to be able to nullify some of the mistakes made on offense.
