You could play a guy like Andy Dalton while you look for your franchise QB. 
 

Put it this way....

 

I'll take a QB like Ryan Mallett who may ultimately not pan out, but if he does pan out indeed has SB caliber QB within his reach over a guy like Andy Dalton who projects to game manager type any day of the week.
