You can hate Bortles and want him gone as much as the next guy, but he isn't out there committing hands to the face penalties and Offensive face masking penalties that are putting this Offense in bad situations.

I'm asking what the game plan should be considering all factors. He's our terrible qb and we have to deal with him for the season. I would like to know what kind of game plan other posters would like to see used. I'm actually kind of frustrated. I was one of the few believing in the guy to take the next step and turn that corner. I'm still hoping he can but after 50 games he is what he is.

They call phantom penalties. It's holding on almost every play. That's not realistic. What scheme wise or whatever would you like to see this team do. We are 1-1 and have an easy schedule. The writing is on the wall for Bortles with this team. Everybody knows his time is up and he needs to go somewhere else and start fresh. This entire fan base questions him, the entire team is questioning him and the front office is questioning him. You can easily tell that he's second guessing every throw because "don't make a mistake" has been pounded into his head.

The game plan is obviously set in place, as far as wanting to be a run first team. You have to throw the ball in the NFL though. You can be ground and pound based, but eventually you have to throw the ball some. It's obvious this team just flat out doesn't want to. Obviously part of that is because of the QB situation on this team. But, there's way too many 1-2 WR sets which only helps stack the box against Fournette. I understand not wanting to let Bortles throw the ball 40 times, but at least give them the threat of possibly throwing it deep. Too many short routes are being ran and not enough 3-4+ WR sets.

I understand the loss of AR15 really hurts in that area, but you have to at least give some appearance of a threat to throw the ball. Whether they're going to throw it or not, they still have to cover those Receivers and it'll ease up with the amount of Defenders stacked in the box. They need to stop having Mercedes Lewis run routes. The guy can't catch a cold and I'm tired of watching him just throw up 1 hand to try and catch the ball, thinking that he's OBJ or something.

Some penalties will happen agreed. Yes you could call holding on every play, but holding penalties aren't what kept stalling drives. On those 5-6 straight drives of penalties, only one was a holding I believe. Two were illegal hands to the face penalties, both called on two different TEs. One face masking penalty called on Ivory that was just flat out stupid on his part. One was an Offensive Pass Interference penalty called on Hurns. You simply can't be doing that kind of stuff, over and over and over. A penalty here and there will happen. But, 5-6 straight drives is just flat out ridiculous.

Those are just the penalties during that stretch of the game. We had 10 total penalties for 100 yards. Not good, not good at all. We heard nothing but discipline and accountability all off season. They sure didn't show much of it last week.

At the end of the day, like said prior, the game plan is pretty much set in place. Run the ball, control the clock and play strong Defense. It just needs to be tweaked a little bit and that's what they're being paid the big $$ for.
