False sense of security. The offensive line still is below average.
It's easy to look good in the pass game when there aren't a lot of passes. The few passes that we do throw are screens or inside of 10 yards. If a quarterback has to actually take 5 step drops, you will see a big dip in performance. Pass protection isn't the actual weakness of the line, however. In the run game we get very little push and the few holes we do open up are tiny and close quickly. It's rare that this line actually opens a gaping hole like the one Fournette took yard on Sunday. Hunt sees those holes open up more in one game than Fournette has seen all year. |
