X is the primary outside position that A-Rob played for us - lines up at the line and must beat the jam. (split-end)
Y is the slot.
Z is where Lee used to play - lines up outside and off the line, free to motion, run the end-around etc.  (flanker)
The above is correct.

For further clarification, in formations where a TE is utilized, Y is the usual designation for the TE.
