Russell Wilson is 5'11" and he's considered one of the top QB's in the NFL as well. Baker Mayfield is also a better scrambler than both of those guys and has proven via the play action pass that he can scan the field quickly and find his receivers behind massive O-Linemen. Heck, his LT Orlando Brown is something like 6'8" 345 lbs. The height thing is a non-issue at this point.Prepare yourself now for him going no earlier than late 1st round and that's if he wows everyone. You picked out the two exceptions to the QB height being highly correlative to success general rule in the pros. Not to say that all guys 6'2" and above will have success, but teams aren't risking a top 10 or top 20 pick on a guy his size at QB. Both of those guys you're trying to use weren't picked in the 1st round either and were worth the risk where they were picked. I think the only way he might get picked in the 1st round is if it's by the Browns and I can totally picture him in a Browns uni so I wouldn't discount that possibility, but them picking him there doesn't automatically lend itself to anyone else having him ranked as highly. I couldn't possibly disagree more. I normally hate shorter QB's, but Mayfield is different. He has great touch, a strong enough arm and excellent accuracy and leadership skills. |
