The Future Quarterback - I think it's Bortles

We are in win now mode and I just think the odds of drafting a rookie QB that can take us to the super bowl is smaller than the odds of drafting another 1st round piece of the puzzle. Why? We are basically a QB away from being Superbowl contenders. If we re-sign Omameh, we only need to find a replacement for Cann, who is the weakest link on the O-Line. We have pretty decent receivers even without ARob and Lee and there will be some talented small school receivers in the mid rounds of the draft. This is also the deepest TE draft I've seen in years. We could find a very good TE all the way into round 5. Guys I really like (in no particular order) are Mark Andrews, Mike Gesicki, Troy Fumagalli, Dallas Goedert, Jaylen Samuels, Adam Breneman, Cam Serigne, Tyler Conklin, Blake Mack and Christopher Herndon IV. I believe any of these TE's could be a big boost to our passing game, if we get the right QB. I don't see why we can't get our QB in round 1, (even if that means trading up and giving away future draft picks) and still add an OG, TE and WR in the next few rounds. This is our best chance to find a QB of the future. There are 3 guys I believe could take us to the next level (Rudolph, Mayfield and Rosen.) I believe we identify which one we want and make a move to go up and get him. |
