He has been playing checkers while the rest of the league plays chess. He was the rich white kid who was handed a million dollars by his dad and bought a 500k Ferrari and another 500k worth of fidget spinners.

Next year he gets to join the adult table, and we'll see how it fares. He doesn't simply get to point to the cream of the crop at FA and say "However much anyone else offers, we'll top it." He actually has to start earning his keep.

Considering how often he has missed while playing with the deck stacked in his favor, I am not optimistic. But I am hopeful.

That's a shallow way of looking at it. I mean hell, most of Caldwell's best value picks came late in the draft. If anything picking later in the first round is going to be better for Caldwell as he won't feel as much pressure to pick the boom or bust top 5 kinda guys. We're a winning football team with arguably the best defense in the NFL, players are more willing to hop on the bandwagon at this point, I don't see how things get HARDER for Caldwell. You can make an argument that cap management is going to be an issue moving forward, as it is with any team with a talented roster, but he's proven that's actually a strong area for him so far. Lets face it, people hate on Caldwell because he missed on a couple first round picks. I'm not going to say whether that's fair or not, but there's a lot of pressure to draft a superstar with a top 5 pick and him picking later in the first round alleviates that issues greatly and plays into his hand.
