He's playing the best Football of his life and is the hottest QB in the game over the last 3. He is peaking at the right time.

Let him start next year on the option. If he is still playing at a high level after 5 or 6 games then you get the big deal done. As great as he is playing right now it's not out of the realm of possibility that he's just got a flacco-esque hot hand. No need to destroy our cap space over the next 5 or so years after a 3 game hot streak when we still have team control over him.
