I'll put it this way..he's called a good game much more often than a bad game this year and he's had our offense get the job done regularly, despite limited talent.

Yeah.  I like Hackett.  We could do a bit better maybe, but we could do A LOT worse. 

Despite all of the gnashing of teeth about predictability, he's really been very balanced and has shown creativity in more games than he hasn't. I don't think a conservatively called week seventeen game with no playoff implications is any real barometer on the guy - or what he'll call at EverBank Field on Sunday when the bills come to town. 

The thing many people really don't appreciate properly about Hackett is that he was able to get so much production and so few errors about of Blake Bortles.  I think he did a great job of evaluating Blake's strengths and weaknesses - and formulating a playbook to suit them. 

Getting 2200 rushing yards out of an offensive line that we all were appalled by in the preseason was no small feat either. 

People see some predictability, moments of conservative calls, and see a few more well-designed plays get executed poorly or defended well and they begin pointing fingers at the OC.  It's kind of lazy really. If you go through the play-by-play of most games or watch the NFL rewind with the play by play pulled up in the margin, Hackett has done a good job of mixing things up the vast majority of the season.

Yeah I think there is a huge recency bias about Hackett right now. He was knocked for being too conservative in Buffalo (when your QBs are Thad Lewis , Ej Manuel and Kyle Orton it limits the scope of the offense somewhat) but I don't think that's a fair critique of him this year.  

When I look at our offense this year I see:
- Great gameplanning week to week. 
- Great opening script (usually score early) 
- Wide receivers consistently schemed open 
- Line consistently gets positive yards. 
- Blake looks comfortable 
- matchup style play calling. (Lewis Vs short corners) something that perhaps could be used more
- Good red zone offense. 

As someone who trashed the hiring of Hackett i don't think you can argue he has been good this year. Is he a top 5 OC? Nah probably not. What will be like next year? No idea but so far so good.
