The problem with the pick play call is it's really not subjective.  The only reason it could even be considered objective is because its rarely called.  Like holding its become so commonplace that refs don't call it.  it should be called every single time.

If holding on the OL was called every time it occurred (every freaking play, regardless of which team is involved), the game would never end.

I prefer the way the refs are in the playoffs - keep the flags in the pocket and let them play. Only throw a flag for the most obvious offenses.
