Interesting take on Blake: Already earned an extension?

One QB, especially an erratic one should not take so much credit for where we are. Just look at the Buffalo game. Bortles was bailed out by our defense. This past week, Blake performed much better and although the defense gave up more points than usual. If you look at the long TD strikes by Pittsburgh though, the coverage was spot on. Roethlisberger just threw it to the perfect spot and his receivers made great catches. Football is a team game and the entire team should be congratulated for getting us here. QB's normally get the bulk of the credit, but in this case, the offense and defense are equally as important. So far, when one side has a bad week, the other side performs great and it saves us. Did you even watch the Buffalo game? We barely squeaked by them, because the offense could not score with Bortles under Center. That was the first playoff game. Without that performance by the defense, we don't even make it to the Pittsburgh game. The defense bailed him out of that one. He's so up and down it's ridiculous! As for him being the best QB in Jags history, that just shows how poorly we've had it at QB over the years. A lot of teams are constantly on the lookout for upgrades at the QB spot in order to draft a true franchise guy. The Jags on the other hand, find mediocre to decent QB's like Brunell, Leftwich, Garrard and Bortles and we settle in for several years. Imagine this team with a truly consistent QB under center. I guarantee we'd have more than one Superbowl coming in the next 5 years. This was one of his better years. He was also in his 7th year as a pro had 82 career tds and 91 ints and a career QB rating of 70 at the time. Don’t really see how a guy with a career QB rating of 73 and more picks than touchdowns is in any position to call Bortles the absolute worst quarterback. You do realize that was 18 years ago? The game has changed since then. |
