End of Year Review - Offense

#2

Good points made.
I have slightly different opinions but not by much.

QB - C
Marked improvement but still too much inconsistency in overall accuracy. The dozens and dozens of throws behind receiver's routes is a glaring problem to me and it happened all year long right up to the third quarter of the AFC championship game. These things are happening despite the OC removing from the playbook many of the throws that Blake has historically struggled with. Struggling with plays that are tailored to your strengths is a bad look. I love his toughness and gutsy play. I think he'll keep getting better. I hope they re-sign him and add worthy competition.

RB - B
Hard to really evaluate with the injury, but he mostly looked the part. Didn't quite justify the high pick use in my mind, but he came close. Would love to see him behind some better blocking and fewer stacked boxes next year.

WR - C
Losing AR really hurt. Lee's drop rate went from good to terrible. The rookies started slow, got hot, and then reverted to rookie-dom again. Hurns' inavailability didn't help. I feel good about the talent remaining and hope they re-sign Robinson. They need a strong threat at X that will draw some extra attention at times.

TE - B
Marcedes had a hell of a year despite a few of his typical drops. He was a devastating blocker and proved helpful when used wisely in the passing game. The rest of the roster is fairly underwhelming and they'll need a real receiving threat in the group next year. They did well with what they had to work with.

O-Line - B -

They had a tough row to hoe in the run game, but still have to be better there. They did mostly well in protection.
I hope we see an upgrade at guard and a prospect drafted at RT to potentially take over eventually for Parnell as he ages.

Coordinator B -

I like Hackett. I'm severely disappointed by his tendency to get too conservative and predictable at the wrong times in 5 or 6 games this season and I hope that is addressed in the offseason. I'd like seeing him back next year with a bit of a re-focus on that issue. Having a stronger run blocking line would cure much of the issue as well.
