Because his team was behind alot in the 4th quarter and he had some comebacks. Bortles had 4 comeback drives in 2015. This year the average margin of victory for the Jags was 3 touchdowns. That's why there was only 1 comeback. If I recall correctly he brought the Jags back against the Cardinals with a TD to tie in the 4th before they hit a 57 yard field goal to win on the final play. He drove for a game tying field goal with under a minute to go against the jets before they won in overtime. Scored 2 late touchdowns against San Francisco to get the Jags within 4 but the defense couldn't get a stop to get the ball back. You can't just look at a stat like that without some context.QBR is a garbage stat. So the Jags had the #1 rushing offense into a 8 or 9 men box all year and with Fournette missing a few games due to injury and not 100% in others? Sounds pretty impressive actually. Interesting that QBR is a garbage stat but it correlates strongly to a QB's success. I simply am not convinced that a QB who up until his year 27 season had more picks than touchdowns is a slam dunk upgrade on our 25 year old QB who was a hair away from a super bowl this year. |
