Draft Talk and Offseason Moves
|
I think everyone pretty much knows what I would do.
1. Pick up the 2018 option on Blake Bortles. Let him compete against a rookie QB for the starting job in 2018 and then decide what to do in 2019. 2. Re-Sign Aaron Colvin. 3. Cut Chris Ivory 4. Don't pick up the option on Marcedes Lewis. 5. Offer Poz and Omameh 1 year deals with no guarantees to be starters. See if they accept. 6. Sign QB Chase Daniel to be the primary backup. 7. Kick the tires on WR John Brown. See what he wants and if he is affordable, sign him to a modest contract. 8. Kick the tires on OG's Zach Fulton and Kenny Wiggins. If we can land them on the cheap, they provide depth and competition on the Offensive interior. 9. Kick the tires on Linebackers Kelvin Sheppard and Mason Foster. If we can get one or both to reasonable contracts, they would provide much needed depth at linebacker. 10. Kick the tires on CB's Rashaan Melvin and Phillip Gaines. Offer them backup contracts for depth. 11. Kick the tires on Safety Bradley McDougle. See if he'll accept a backup contract to provide depth. I then go into the draft....... 13. Use the #29 pick on a QB (Rosen, Mayfield or more likely, Mason Rudolph.) If it appears that all 3 might be gone by our pick, move up a few spots to get one. Make 2018 an all out QB competition. 14. Use the 2nd round pick to target either a TE or a road grading OG. My targets in round 2 would be Mark Andrews, Dallas Goedert, Billy Price, Will Hernandez, Frank Ragnow, Isaiah Wynn or Braden Smith. 15. Whatever position you did not get in round 2, I go after in round 3. My targets would be Mason Cole, Will Clapp, K.J. Malone, Troy Fumagalli and Ian Thomas. 16. In round 4, I target a WR. Grab the best available big target that falls here. 17. In rounds 6 and 7, take the BAP, focusing on Linebacker, Safety and an OG/OT. 18. Use UDFA to focus on filling out roster, emphasizing RB, O-Line depth and WR, TE, LB and CB competition and any top players left on our board. We show less advertisements to registered users.
