Of course, Robinson will want a lot guaranteed, but I wonder if we can give him an incentive first year. Which, when met, guarantees a lot in the second year and beyond. Start with a decent base (around $8mil) with incentives up to $15mil.

He may not think he can meet his incentives with Bortles. I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t want to be here at all.

That does not diminish the fact that we need to find, at least a good QB. We've been getting by with a pedestrian one.

I’m fine with still looking at QB in the draft. I’m fine with signing someone at QB if they’re better than Bortles. I just don’t think anyone fits that criteria this year... except Cousins who I don’t think we’ll sign. Bortles wasn’t great but he certainly wasn’t pedestrian. 

We assign a lot of blame against Bortles when he fails, but we ignore when QBs like Smith do the same. Since I don’t think anyone better than a bortles is available, we should instead spend the money on helping him be better.
