Blake could absolutely improve next year but he can also regress. Just like he did in 2016. He is still inaccurate and his ball placement is still below average. You still have games where you're not sure which Blake will show up. One week he shreds the Seahawks but then he can also have an atrocious game against the Titans. He can have a game where he has more rushing yards than passing but then also a game where he helps you get a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter of the AFC championship game. This team needs consistency.

It's clear as day that the Jags were running the ball inside the 5 yard line where previous seasons they had to rely on Bortles to pass for a touchdown. No more than 9 rushing touchdowns in any season since 2010 and then this year they had 18. Add 9 more passing touchdowns to Bortles numbers and people are talking about locking up our pro bowl QB long term. All I'm saying is his TD number took a hit since the running game could be relied on this year to punch it in. This really isn't even debatable.

You can't just make up stats. You can't just say "Oh let's add 9 more TDs". Should we then take away all the TD passes he threw inside the 5 and just give them to the running backs?

I'm not looking at his TD passes because overall, they're irrelevant. What you can look at is ball placement and accuracy. 60% this year and that's a career high. That's pretty bad. I'm not saying he can't improve because he's only 25 and certainly can continue to improve but no one knows what this offense would look like with a better QB. Marrone and Hackett seem to play to their teams strengths. QB is not the strength of this team. If they had a better QB who could make all the throws consistently, I would expect the offense to change.
