You can find examples of big pay free agents working out and not working out.  I think the key is whoever we sign and pay, they produce.  Gene Smith brought in free agent, but often over paid for less talent.  Instead of Vincent Jackson, he signed Laurent Robinson.  Those type of moves cost you games.
