My Early Free Agency NFL Round One Mock Draft

Why else spend all that money when they will soon have to pay megabucks for guys like Ramsay, Jack and Yannick? That being said, the 1st 2 draft picks are likely to be either guys who would upgrade a starting position immediately or be a backup at a position in which they need more quality depth in case the starter gets hurt. Currently, the positions which fit this description would likely be: I'm largely on the same side. My predicted draft order would probably be: 1st Round: Quarterback - The quarterback position is unlikely to drop. If you want a potential future starter, the first round is the way to go. If the Jaguars just wanted a backup, why wouldn't they have signed one in free agency? They filled every other major need. It tells me that they don't just want a backup, they want someone with upside. 2nd Round: Guard - I think right guard is a great opportunity to be upgraded and guards often drop in the draft. 3rd Round: MLB - Again, I think MLB has an excellent chance to be upgraded. The reason it isn't higher is because (barring injury) it's a part time position on our team. You almost have to asterisk it as a "starter". Some would say we have Blair Brown, but I think the 3rd rounder would win the job. However, even if he lost out to Brown, we could still use the depth at the position. 4th Round: Offensive Tackle: I don't think we can expect to find a starter in the late 4th round. As far as backups, offensive tackle is our biggest needs outside of quarterback which was taken earlier. I would say that tight end would be one of my alternate choices for the above if the value wasn't there. I don't really see cornerback. I do think the Jaguars are satisfied at nickel back. They wouldn't have paid Hayden that money if they weren't. |
