Four Rounds of "Wants"
|
1. QB of the future. This is far and away my #1 want. I know we can upgrade from Bortles and put us in line for a Superbowl. If we come out of this draft with some late round QB who is no competition for the starting job, this entire draft will be a complete failure in my eyes. I still think Mason Rudolph is perfect for this team, but I'm also high on Mike White, if we miss out on Rudolph.
2. RG. We got a huge upgrade at the LG position when we added Norwell. Finding an upgrade at RG is equally as important. One guy I really see us targeting in the 3rd or 4th round is Colby Gossett of Appalachian State. He has the size, strength, traits this team covets in an O-Lineman and he is a true RG who also has played RT successfully. He was one of the fastest rising players at the Senior Bowl. IMO, he'd be perfect for this offense. 3. TE. If we are indeed going to run a lot of two TE sets, we need another pass catching TE. I thought with the bodies we added to the position, we may be finished, but the sudden departure of Lewis changes that. I believe the 2nd round could be where we get one. Goedert and Hurst seem to be the most likely candidates as they show the ability to make big plays and block well. I also like Andrews, but his blocking is suspect and Schultz could be in play as well, but probably no sooner than round 4. I'm not a fan of Gesicki. He's completely useless as a blocker. 4. A tall, possession receiver. With Hurns and Robinson gone, this team lacks size at the receiver spot. I want a receiver at least 6'2" who can catch fades in the corner of the endzone. I can't remember what game it was last season, but Hurns and Robinson were both inured, we tried multiple times to throw fades to Lee in the red zone, but it failed over and over. We need to remedy this. I wanna see a redzone package where we have ASJ and a rookie TE on both sides and a tall rookie WR lined up on the outside with Fournette and Bohanan in the backfield. We'd be close to unstoppable. |
