Contrast this case with all the embarrassing details (for the school administration and the sheriff's office) that so quickly came out with the Stoneman Douglas shooting, you know there are far reaching implications in the case if we've been given next to nothing.

There must be a lot there, that will have to be delicately handled both as an investigation and in communicating with the public.

If a lunatic portion of the public is unwilling to place blame where it's due in Stoneman Douglas, just think about what that means for Mandalay Bay when the players and details emerge about how it was carried out.  That's not even considering what might come out if there were any investigative issues and conflicts of jurisdiction.  Until there's a full report otherwise, on the surface it appears nothing short of a mess.  That's why a final and complete report would be telling.  There should be explanations, good ones, for what appears to be a shoddy investigation.  It would be somewhat relieving if the reason for misinformation and lack of information was due to it being necessary to catch others involved, if there were others involved.  This appears to me to be one that won't be solved or divulged for quite some time.
