I don't know, if it were my kid, I'd rather they be out there under adult supervision to make sure everyone stays out of trouble during the walkout and kids don't decide to just not come back. Let them face the consequences for their actions once they get back into class. And there absolutely should have been consequences. Could be suspensions, could be detention, could be loss of privileges, could be as simple as being required to write a couple of pages explaining why you felt it was necessary and proper to leave class for that walkout. There was no point doing it if kids weren't going to learn and grow from it, and one of the lessons high school is all about is that actions have consequences, but that doesn't mean the action itself was bad.

Bull. Go ahead kids, break the rules. We'll allow, Hell, encourage, and in most cases MANDATE it if you'll be our pawns in taking away your rights. Indoctrination, plain, pure, and simple. Had the students been walking out to support the 2A they all would've been suspended on the spot at minimum, probably corralled and arrested by the cops just to make the point that the rules are different for those who must be silenced.
