Kessler is no competition for Bortles. He's strictly a clipboard holder with NFL experience who can improve as a passer, but has limited upside. I think that's what they wanted. They wanted a player that the fans wouldn't scream for if Bortles threw two picks in the first half. They also wanted a veteran backup in case he was needed. They also wanted to add a young guy that has a chance to develop into a long term solution. I think Kessler is all 3 of those things. 

Kessler is better than anything we could've drafter after the 1st round.
