The arguing poster cited an opinion piece from one of the "analytics" sites.  I retorted that he wasn't in top 3 in any single category that season, therefore it was asinine to give him the title.

The poster's view was top 10 was not giving him his due.

The "overrating" arguments I've heard come from those who correctly point out he hasn't lived up to the "once in a lifetime" hype.  Is injury a part of that?  Sure.  But even when healthy, he's always had his healthy share of interceptions and boneheaded decisions that hurt his club.

Coming out of college, many folks were acting as if the HOF was practically preparing his bust in Canton.

I can't see where any one (even without injury) could put him on that level.  I and others have always been slammed for that opinion.  Following Peyton Manning could also have played into that sentiment.  Even when healthy I don't feel he was living up to those expectations.  Manning and the other legends he was being compared to coming out weren't simply top 10.
