The SAM competition will be Jacobs and Brown. Jacobs profiles much better there and is real good at shedding blocks. Blair is still quite talented though so I wouldn't rule him out.

The physical tools are there, but right now he lacks the instincts and proper skills and techniques to be a starter.

I think if he sees the field this year it will be on special teams or as a DPR in some defensive packages.

I'd say he will be.  

He's actually pretty talented at shedding blocks and keying in on his run fits. For a Sam LB in our schemes that's the meat and bones of the job. He's also a very good blitzer so we can work different packages off that.  

Won't be surprised at all if he starts week 1.
