Exactly. Every Merit Badge had goal and a lesson. The Scouts were about honor, respect, tradition and assisting young boys transition into manhood.

Why does it appear that hard leaning lefties are against this?

Isn't it just a business decision to try and appeal to more kids? Not sure where lefties have enforced anything on them?
