Contrary to popular belief, the Boy Scouts aren't/weren't about "outdoor activities" though that is/was part of the curriculum used to teach.  The goal of the Boy Scouts was to assist boys with the transition to manhood.  You know, learning how to survive, use your hands, ingenuity, respect, charity, competition, patriotism, etc..  Those values and morals are lost with today's youth.

Also contrary to popular belief, the Girl Scouts aren't just about selling cookies.  They hike and camp and learn skills such as archery and how to start a fire with flint and steel. 
The official mission statement of the Girl Scouts is to "build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place."  The goals of both organizations are essentially the same, shaping the people they will become as adults.  What needs to change for either group?
