Some people's perspective comes directly from the negative impact it has had on their friends and family. Those folks are more than likely the exception than the rule, but the damage it does cancels all that thought process. 

For my family, more are addicts of something than not. Thankfully I dodged that bullet but the destruction to family members is pretty horrific to include suicide and a general thought process of "this is my life and I'm not hurting anyone". Yeah, okay.
Mostly alcohol but also weed and others.

I don't care if stuff is legal or not. It's like "illegal" guns, people will get their hands on what they want. I just wish there was a system ( for lack of a better word right now) in place to help people when they, or their family members, fall down that rabbit hole.
