Initially the push back against marijuana was rich white people VS immigrant Hispanics.
More push back came from the textile industries and further push from big pharma.

You can look to the crack epidemic of the 80s and 90s if you want to see your government policing drugs in a way that impacts the black community.... (cocaine was a lighter sentence than it's almost equivalent "crack")
but to say that weed is kept illegal federally to "bring down the black man" is silly. If you're referring to the amount of blacks incarcerated for non-violent drug charges, you could have an argument on that, but I don't think the correlation can be made that because more blacks are incarcerated that is WHY the plant is still deemed a drug and illegal. (Two different issues)

Over three-fourths of all marijuana consuming adults are white (76%), while only two-fifths (20%) are Hispanics or African-American.

I'm pretty sure that's not accurate. White people just feel safer admitting it then other races.

What an obscene gesture... (sounds like racism to me) because I'm white I'm allowed to partake or feel more comfortable admitting to partaking in an illegal activity.... oooook
There's actually a lot to be learned if you're willing to learn something as opposed to just tossing out the same ol tired lines of nonsense and misinformation...

The demographics info and stats have been being gathered by NORML and the government for years, and more so since the rise in popularity of medical marijuana.
