The official mission statement of the Girl Scouts is to "build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place."  The goals of both organizations are essentially the same, shaping the people they will become as adults.  What needs to change for either group?

I have a niece in girl scouts and a nephew in boy scouts. The boy scouts seem to do a lot more competition based activities such as the pinewood derby, rocket races and father/son cake decorating competitions. If certain girls are more competitive, I can see where they would be more interested in what the boy scouts are doing. I think the girl scouts need to be open to more competition based activities. If a boy wants to join the girl scouts though, there's just no hope for that kid. I think they should just tweak the curriculum a little, particularly on the girl scouts side of things, keeping the two organizations separate and it should satisfy most of the dissenters. You'll never satisfy everyone though.
