You may call it by whatever name, word or phrase you wish, but it cease to be true the second Trump pardons himself without consequence.

It would create a firestorm but there are no pardon limitation except with impeachment. Then again, Trump misspells a word and it’s news for two weeks, so firestorm wouldn’t be unusual.

Trump could also sit back and let the Dems continue with the “unfit for office” narrative, then later on claiming the 25th amendment for a mental reprieve giving Pence full temporary Presidential authority. Pence could then pardon Trump and Trump returns after a brief hiatus to full Presidential duty unscathed. 

Reality is, neither method is unconstitutional and has limited to no law precedent against it. However, I can almost guarantee it would force the Supreme Court to register a ruling.
