As the Jags did not have to take on any of the signing bonus amortization, the Dareus's deal with the Jags is not bad. The Jags have about $7.3m in guaranteed money (and a $10.2m cap figure) this year. After this season, there is no dead cap ramifications if let go, and is signed for $10.5m if they keep him.

It is a lot of money for a guard, but the Jags only have guaranteed money on his deal for the first 2 seasons. He's a pro-bowler and only 26 years old. For a team that wants to build an identity as a run first team, it's an expensive but likely wise investment. Hopefully, Norwell's level of play remains high.
