One of the terms of his contract was that the Jags would also guarantee his base salary.

I'm not a big fan of the contract, but unless the Jags find a trade partner for him, it pretty much guarantees he will make the final roster.

Looks like I'm the one who missed the guaranteed salary part. My bad, although you almost have to wonder why even split it up if it's all guaranteed. The difference is that the $4 mil is paid up front instead of by installments, but in the books, it's the same unless he's traded. If he's traded, the Jaguars owe the $4 mil, and any paid base salary if the trade occurs in-season, while the new team would owe any future base salary.

With a fully guaranteed contract, there's absolutely no chance he's cut even if he does stink up the field in the preseason, which he hasn't.
