Not dumb. Dareus might agree to renegotiate his current deal to free up some money. He is part of a rotation, not a high impact superstar. Ronnie Harrison will eventually slide into a starting safety role. 

What probably hinders a trade is the value of a Jacksonville first round pick. I project the 2019 #1 will fall in the 25-32 range. That's a low value first rounder, for sure. Same for the second round pick. 

The Jaguars might offer their 2019 first and 2020 first round pick along with swapping Dante Fowler, Jr. Having two firsts in 2019 and 2020 allows the Raiders to package two in order to move higher if they want. Plus they are getting a player in Fowler, who fits the outlaw character profile traditionally sought by the Raiders.

If it were me, I would offer Oakland next year's first round pick, Dante Fowler, Jr. and a considerable amount of cash. Probably ten million. I think Reggie McKenzie has hinted the Raiders organization is hurting there. A infusion of $10M may be a much stronger inducement that an additional pick.

If Mack expresses displeasure with the trade, and now with the Jaguars holding exclusive rights, I would slap the franchise tag on him and see how long it takes for him to show up. In other words, use the franchise tag to cut through the distraction.
