You do realize that the Netherlands is not a socialist country, that WW2 in Europe was fought mostly by Soviet and British/Canadian troops, and that NATO was formed four years after the conclusion of WW2? 

Not that it matters to the discussion at hand of course, which is one of the service members being thrown a tiny morsel to chew on while the GOP gleefully rams their hard rod of fees where the sun does not shine.

Canada sent about 780k (Why not pick another ally?)
Brits sent about 4.6 million
America sent about 2.1 million (to Europe)

The US essentially kept Russia mobile with vehicles, armed Britain and Russia, destroyed Japan, and then swept up the Nazis with the invasion of Normandy. Russia definitely contributed more than anyone to the European-side of the war. But they were back-and-forth with the eastern edge until Normandy. After that, everything came tumbling down quickly. 

He said the US saved you which is correct. He didn't say they "mostly" fought in Europe. The US did save you, because without them, Russian couldn't move their armies and didn't have the resources to continue it, and Britain didn't have the equipment.
