Either the initial report that he was undocumented inaccurate or the e-Verify system needs to be strengthened.  Perhaps he gave them a false SSN at the time.  The e-Verify system should be much harder to spoof than that.

Illegal aliens don't or shouldn't have a SSN.  Not just the illegals, any foreigner in our country.

This whole thing should highlight the real need for immigration reform, yet the left and much of the MSM for the most part is focusing on "Russia, collusion, impeachment".  What should really be an eye opener is had this happened in a "sanctuary city" he probably wouldn't be facing the appropriate federal charges against him in addition to murder.

The bottom line in this whole story is the scumbag perp is an illegal alien who already broke federal law by being in this country illegally and because of that a young beautiful women is dead and leaves behind a grieving family.
