Bortles Made 8 deep or intermediate attempts on Sunday and well over half of his completions were not screen passes. 
The Jags are a team that utilizes the screen effectively and boasts a roster of backs suited to it. That doesn’t make them a “screen offense” - whatever the hell that is.

Blake was 4/10 on passes over 10 yards. Alex Smith was the only QB who completed a higher ratio of short:long passes last week. At least he was as of Sunday night, maybe one of the MNF QBs changed that. But truth is we're still as dink and dunk of a team as any. I'm not sure how I would label that exactly, "screen offense" might not be right but the sentiment isn't far off.

And yes I know he had a couple of drops on those 10+ yard passes, but he also should have had a 2nd INT on them too so it evens out.

You just said he made 10 attempts of ten or more yards and tried to call it something akin to a screen  offense in the same breath.   That’s pretty contradictory. 

If Blake hits on two or three of those deep incompletions, this lazy narrative goes away. I wish he could do that more often. 

This offensive staff is doing what it can with a QB that isn’t accurate enough to sit back and sling it all over the field week in and week out.  Labeling it some imaginary term just feels like fans having sour grapes about the limitations of the offensive roster IMO. 

Seriously - if you’re Nate Hackett and you saw Blake’s placement on those downfield sideline passes Sunday, are you going to just keep dialing that stuff up more than 20-30% of the pass attempt? I think not. 

You let him identify single coverage and take a conservative number of shots in those situations, but it’s not going to be a high percentage play for Blake most weeks.

That completion stat you mention means nothing for the topic. Attempts define the nature of the offense if we’re mislabeling it. Not completions.
