So Andrew Luck is just above-average

Quote:The boys on the show formerly known as SFR brought up a good point this morning. I completely disagree. Manning came off a serious neck injury. The Colts organization did the right thing, ensuring they would not be hamstrung on Manning's ability to heal and return form. That is too big of a gamble. Only in hindsight, after he has healed and proven that he can still play do we now see that he does something in the tank However, Manning will be 38 years old in March of 2014. He is clearly not getting younger. Also, if he wins another one, what more would he have left to prove? He will be without a doubt the GOAT at the QB position. The Colts did the right thing, and drafted Luck. They will continue to have a very successful franchise and be in the playoffs perennially. If they can build the defense up and shore up the weapons on offense they will greatly increase their chances of hanging around in the post season, and possibly going to the Superbowl. The Colts have long-term sustained success in mind, and I will take that any day of the week. The idea they should have stuck with Manning, who not only suffered a very serious neck injury, but also appeared to be healing very slowly; is very short sighted. The Broncos on the other hand just got lucky, their fortunes could have obviously been the complete opposite. The Colts did the smart thing and went with a young, ascending player, who has shown already the ability to bring the team sustained success, and the potential to bring a SB with a better surrounding cast.. |
