You are correct in that it is paramount that QBs are able to function effectively in the pocket, make progressions, etc. However gaining those abilities do not necessarily come at the expense of mobility. A QB can be mobile and still function well in the pocket.
 

You hit the nail on the head, Bullseye. That is why I love mobile quarterbacks - they are true dual threats and exciting players to watch.

 

Think about this: Colin Kaepernick and Russell Wilson are still young so the fact they are not great passers now does not mean they can't be great passers in 10 years. I think people assume they hit their ceilings already, which does not make it true. Does anyone know with absolute certainty they can't improve as pocket passers?

 

Johnny Manziel has been compared to Wilson a lot here. Where do the comparisons end?
