If our offense could piece together drives and even score a FG every now and then our D would be in better position to play better late.

Our defense thrived on teams having to throw to keep pace or catch up and hence all the sacks and turnovers.
Remember the steelers game that Bortles was trying so hard to lose for us? Bell was gashing us and the steelers looked like they were about to dominate the 2nd half. Our offense barely did anything, but did enough to keep it close.
Then the D balled out and the rout was on, partially because the Steelers decided to stop running Bell.

When our offense has like 4 minutes of TOP in the first Q and just over 10 after 2.... the defense is gonna be tired. Not just physically, but mentally.
It is hard to get up off the bench after a 5 minute real time rest (about 1.5 minutes of game time on a 3 and out) and go 'make a play'

The defense isn't playing up to snuff from last year. But last years team set the bar really high. And last years offense was much better than this year. So this years defense is catching flack they shouldn't be.

Look if our offense was at least scoring and we were losing 35-21 I'd be all over the D.
But the game is over by the middle of the 3rd Q when Bortles tosses a pick 6 or loses his 2nd fumble and the opponent has barely scrapped up 20 points, most of which come from short field.

Injuries, bad coaching --playcalling and roster decisions--
QB play regressed. Which is really bad considering where the QB play really was for the majority of last season (not great)
