Does anyone think Bortles will be on the roster 2 or 3 years from now?

I am starting to cool a bit on Lock. At this point, if Herbert and Haskins aren't in the mix, I trade out of the first round to accumulate picks for 2020. I then make sure I sign Ryan Fitzpatrick, to a 1 or 2 year deal. He's an UFA at the end of the season and he could at least make us competitive until we found our franchise guy. I don't wanna force the issue of drafting a QB either. I believe Herbert and Haskins are franchise players, but that doesn't mean we will be in position to get either one. If we can't, we go with option B and wait another year with Fitzpatrick at the helm.

The thing is, each time I could see how/why they made the decision they made. They were IN a position to get a guy they thought would be a franchise QB in 2014, and instead of pulling a Cleveland and trading down away from that position (like the Browns did with Wentz), they took Bortles. Last year, TC came aboard and influenced the draft. If you look at his history, he prefers the bigger RB, and the Jaguars struggled mightily the years before sustaining drives on the ground, holding onto leads, finishing games, and converting short yardage (see Ravens game from 2016). They took Fournette instead of taking Watson or Mahomes. It paid off short term. Then this year, they were just coming off the AFC championship with Bortles. They wanted to maybe improve some of the pieces around him and secure the future for as much of the defensive stars as possible. which is why they didn't go too hard after Cousins or Smith. But I'm fearful we have missed our chance to get a QB that will get this team in the Super Bowl for some time. Heck, the Chiefs hadn't drafted and hit on a franchise QB since Len Dawson in the 1960s (that's over 50 years ago). I don't think I have 50 years left in me. LOL

The Mahomes/Watson draft was right after Blake has his godawful 2016 season though...there is no legitimate how/why'ing your way into picking a RB top 5 in that scenario. They simply made a disastrous pick that snowballed into extending Bortles and doubling down on the 1980's archaic offense that is going to cost us an entire contention window.
