Needs based drafting-David Caldwell

Quote:Nope. Someone stated that Kiper had Moore going 2nd in one of his early drafts (before the combine mind you) and you turned around and said it would be dumb to follow what Kiper says. You then posted Moore's reps vs other smaller players insinuating that he isn't that good.Boom back at you. Kiper was wrong, right? That makes you wrong, right? I'm not sure if you can take something so out of context and claim much. NFL draft experts (and apparently most all NFL scouts) dropped Moore based on a poor lift at the Combine? 12 reps? If you examine the rest of his Combine results they were pretty impressive. It didn't make sense. The NFL Network folks reported the issue: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000...ng-combine NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock didn't hold back in his criticism of Moore. "I wasn't high on Damontre Moore," he said. "I hear top five, I don't believe it. And by the way, he did (12) reps at (225 pounds). That is totally unacceptable. I don't know how you convert speed to power if at 250 pounds you can only bench press 225 (12) times. So I'm kind of poking holes in all these supposed top-10 guys because I'm not seeing it." Later at Texas A&M's Pro Day Moore improved to 19 reps. The NFL Network draft expert of all draft experts Gil Brandt reported Moore's improvement: Damontre Moore, DE (6-4 3/8, 260) — Moore had a solid work out, performing as both a linebacker and defensive end at the pro day. He ran the short shuttle in 4.37 seconds and had 19 lifts of 225 pounds on the bench press, but was unable to continue due to a sore right leg. So, see if you can put all this together and make some kind of coherent observation. 1. Moore was over-rated by Kiper. 2. Moore lifted poorly at the Combine and his stock dropped. 3. Moore's draft grade was not affected because that is just part of his total. 4. Moore's reps improved at his Pro Day, but it wasn't enough to erase doubts. 5. Moore slipped way down in the draft. 6. Giants got arguably first round talent (not elite) in what round? 7. Moore plays behind some impressive defensive line talent. 8. Drafting Moore was a great deal.
