I don't believe this absurdly conservative offense was specifically designed for Bortles. I believe this is just how Hackett designs offenses. If this offense was made for Bortles and they thought he had so many limitations, why did they extend him? That makes no sense. Bortles sucks, but Hackett sucks just as much.

I guarantee you nobody is offering Mike Kafka an OC job after this year. He's a complete novice and there is zero indication he would perform well. Now is not the time to hire someone to learn on the job and next year I doubt Marrone will be in a situation to do it either.  

There are better candidates around , and ones that come with less risk too.

I don't want anyone with OC experience. That's what we always do, pull someone off the scrap heap and it never works out. I want someone fresh, with new ideas. If I had my way, I'd fire Marrone and hire Jim Bob Cooter as HC.
