I don't fault people who want to hold Bortles' extension against Caldwell, even if I can point to why "I get it." No need to rehash all of that now. 

However - your second sentence is a little over the top. They are only saddled with Blake for one more year before the out clause in his contract comes up.  Eating his salary in 2019 isn't the end of the world. His cap hit for the Jags is 19th in the league in expense, so let's pump the brakes on all this big money talk a bit. There are 18 teams taking a bigger cap hit from their QBs next year.  After that - he's gone.

And those guys are probably playing decently, while Bortles is actually hindering us. That is the difference.
