If we fast forwarded to next year, Michigan St. would have likely had a playoff spot. When the Big Ten plays the better teams from other conferences, historically it does not fare well. So.. I'm not buying the Big 10 being anything more than an average conference at best.

 

I didn't mean this year. There is no doubt that the Big Ten is down right now. When 2 of your top 4 programs (Ohio St. and Penn St.) have both gone through scandals / sanctions in the past 5 years and on of your top 4 programs (Michigan) went through the worst era in 70+ years (Rich Rod), then of course the conference as a whole is going to take a hit. At the end of the day, the conference still has Ohio St., Penn St., Michigan, and Nebraska. Four of the best programs in college football history.
