Smokescreen or fact: How can we tell the difference?

#1

It may seem obvious the Texans are putting up a thick layer of smokescreen to some people, but is it possible to figure out what their objective is through all of the lies or find some of their statements are true?

Is it possible to know if the Browns are really interested in trading up and/or like Johnny Manziel?

I am sure there are other examples of possible smokescreen that may or may not be true, but those two stand out at me.

The Texans said:

1. We wanted Marcus Mariota before he decided to stay in school.

2. Our first pick will be a quarterback because we need one.

3. J.J. Watt could fix Jadaveon Clowney's work ethic issues.

4. All options are on the table, including trading our #1 pick.

5. Johnny Manziel is worth of the #1 pick and would fit well here.

6. Bill O'Brien wants a pocket passer in his offense, not Manziel.

7. We like Blake Bortles and think he is good enough to be #1.

Obviously, not all statements can be lies because of the contradictory statements about Manziel and keeping or trading the #1 pick. What do you think they want to do? It looks to me like you have to know what type of offense Bill O'Brien will install to figure out who their favorite quarterback is. The Clowney comments probably are to make a team call them about trading the pick.

The Browns said this: They are looking for a coach who would be willing to work with Manziel and want to trade up for him. But they also appear undecided about Manziel by saying they are focusing on him in their quarterback search. My guess: They want to leapfrog us for a quarterback and Manziel is one of the quarterbacks they like so it is a half truth, but the part about the coach search is a flat out lie. Do you agree?
