I'd like to see him restructure and stay as the backup.  But I'm not sure it would make sense for him financially.  If he's cut, doesn't he walk away with the remaining $10 in signing bonus and the $6.5 million of next year's salary that's guaranteed?  It would take him 3 or 4 years of backup money to recoup that.

I agree that it wouldn't make sense for him financially.  That's why I said that the scenario was VERY doubtful.  I think the likely thing that will happen is that he gets traded away.  After all, we got a 7th(?) for Gabbert and he was way worse than Bortles.

The only two things that I'm almost sure of and would bet money on.

1.  Bortles will not be on the 53 man roster for this team next season.

2.  Bortles will be on a 53 man roster in the league somewhere.  After all, Henne has a job right now.
