Marrone is coaching like someone who isn't expecting to be fired.  My sense is that he's been given the green light by Coughlin to do exactly what he's doing here.  Coughlin was never a Bortles fan, and I think he realized his mistake in extending BB5, and let Marrone have the final say in whether a change needed to be made at QB.  You don't stick with a dumpster fire like Kessler if you're coaching for your job.

While it wouldn't be a shock to see Marrone fired, I think he's got another year left..  He's going to have to clean house with the coaching staff (minus DeCamillis), but I don't really think he's going anywhere.

No. Teams have figured Wash's predictable defense out. To go with that, guys seem to have regressed this year. Every starting  defenders numbers are worse.

Is there some magical defensive scheme being executed in the NFL or any other football venue that hasn't been figured out? That is possibly the weakest argument on the planet.  The fact that the defense is constantly put in a position where they have their backs against the wall because of an inept offense certainly plays into some of the struggles.  It's not entirely because of that, but that is a huge contributing factor.  Every scheme has ultimately been figured out.  It comes down to execution, and things have gotten sloppier as the season has progressed.

That being said, Wash probably does end up fired when the season ends, not because they figured him out.  But, because his unit has been consistently undisciplined.  It was okay last year because they were able to back up their swagger with production.  When the production came back to earth, the antics only made things worse.  There's too much talent on that defense to see them giving up huge plays so consistently.

This is why other fans laugh at us - because of dumb comments like this. Do you seriously think that’s going to fix this current problem? Most of our starters on offense went down early in the season (and stayed down). The only questionable pick was Bortles, and even then, he might have turned out a bit better if we didn’t hire a first time coach who was in over his head and had no idea how to work with and improve a young QB. 

Firing Marrone may or may not work, but firing the people who drafted 3/4 of our defense WITHOUT A BETTER REPLACEMENT is absolutely moronic. While I do agree that it is time for the Jags to move on from Bortles, it’s not time blow up this team. Now, if the next drafted QB turns out in a similar way, THEN we can start throwing stones...

Firing Marrone would ultimately create an environment where you're going to have a tough time finding a legitimate head coach to replace him.  What coach is going to look at the history of the coaching carousel here over the past 5 or so years and think "That's where I want to go"?

It's still undetermined if this is a good franchise or not, so it's quite possible they screw this up.  I'm hoping that Tom will steady things this off season and make a few critical moves that lead us back to the "good franchise" path.
