I think Kessler getting the starting gig was less about playing the best option to win as it is to stop playing a guy who has clearly failed to live up to any expectations.  When they fired Hackett, they were waving the white flag on the Bortles experiment.  Starting Kessler was nothing more than finally admitting they missed on Bortles.  My suspicion is that Marrone might have pulled the plug on that sooner, but he unfortunately had to deal with Caldwell.  I think the benching of Bortles signaled to anyone paying attention that not only is Bortles done in Jacksonville, but so is the guy who drafted him.  Bortles may still be the best option to win, but at this point, winning does nothing to help this team.  When the dust settles, Bortles may be the reason for multiple offensive coordinators, and possibly 3 head coaches being dumped.
