So to answer no it's not exactly fair to Marrone, but we've had 5 horrible seasons out of 6 now and it's time to start over from scratch. Not keep rearranging a deck chair here or there and expect major change.

I don't claim to know how much of the problem Marrone is or isn't .
But if keeping him is moving a few deck chairs -  then firing him is burning down the house because you didn't like the deck.

No, keeping something isn't the analogy, replacing portions at a time is moving deck chairs is the analogy...aka half measures. If you like my diseased tissue analogy from earlier that one is fine too. Until we make sweeping changes the symptoms are likely to continue. If we must throw out a proverbial baby in the process then so be it.

Especially when the baby has already made disastrous errors that got put on blast by the defending super bowl winning coach in a book. And then the baby said it wasn't an error, doubled down on the error, and then led us to a failed season.
